In 1999, digital photography became a reality for many professionals. Digital cameras revolutionized the photography market and attracted many new customers. Leading producers of digital equipment such as Nikon, Kodak, Canon and others offered to the general public their top of the line digital cameras formerly available only to the select few.
True Digital Photo was created in November of 2000 to support new digital technologies and offer innovative ideas in the emerging market of digital photography. Despite all the benefits of digital cameras, users still faced two ever-existing problems of flare and ghosting. Digital SLRs make effective focal length of their lenses approximately 1.5 times longer, i.e. super wide-angle 14mm lens behaves like a 21mm lens. As a result, standard lens shades available on the market prior to the digital revolution were no longer effective on digital SLRs. Seven months later in June of 2001, a new division of True Digital Photo, FlexHood Products, was launched to offer innovative, practical solution to flare problems in digital cameras. FlexHoods Products designed hood extenders that compensate for this effective magnification ratio in digital cameras. It attaches to your original hood and offers extra protection from flare without blocking the view or causing vignetting. Each FlexHood extender is mathematically calculated and tailored to a particular lens and undergoes extensive internal testing. It offers its customers an affordable, hassle-free way to fight flare.
FlexHood Products have been recognized by digital community and featured in several magazines including Digital Photographer Magazine (February 2002), Digital Camera Magazine (February 2002) and Studio Photography & Design (March 2002). “I don’t know where you can get more photographic bang for your six bucks than to buy a FlexHood for your lens,” says Digital Camera Magazine in its Cool New Stuff section. “They (FlexHoods) can be used in-studio to block back and side lighting, and on location to protect from sun and even rain,” explains Studio Photography & Design in its Innovations section.
FlexHood Products is currently in the process of expanding its FlexHood product line, including design and manufacture of FlexHood Jr., models compatible with Canon 1D and Kodak DCS770. FlexHood Wallets are also in store in near future to offer its customers an easy and convenient storage room for their FlexHoods.
